End-of-Life Care
Compassionate Support for Life's Hardest Moments
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things a pet owner will ever face. Jones Veterinary Clinic is here to walk alongside you with compassion, honesty, and gentle guidance when your pet needs you most.
Understanding End-of-Life Care
End of life care is about more than the final moments. It is about making sure your pet is comfortable, loved, and at peace during the last chapter of their life, and making sure you feel supported through one of the most emotional experiences pet ownership brings. Our end of life services include quality of life consultations to help you understand where your pet is in their journey, compassionate euthanasia performed with gentleness and care, and aftercare guidance including cremation referrals to help you honor your pet’s memory in a way that feels right for your family.

The Importance of End-of-Life Care
One of the greatest gifts we can give a pet is a peaceful and pain free end when the time comes. Knowing when that time is, however, is something many pet owners struggle with deeply, and it is not a decision anyone should have to make alone. Quality of life consultations give you the information and perspective you need to make thoughtful, informed decisions on behalf of your pet without guilt or second guessing. Compassionate euthanasia, when the time is right, is a profound act of love that spares a suffering animal from prolonged pain. Our team is here to honor that moment with the reverence and care it deserves, for your pet and for you.
Comprehensive List of End-of-Life Care Services
Our end of life services are centered around your pet’s comfort and your peace of mind. We approach every end of life conversation with honesty, warmth, and deep respect for the bond you share with your animal. There is no pressure and no judgment here, only support.
Our end of life care services include:
- Quality of life consultations — an honest and compassionate conversation with your veterinarian to assess your pet’s current comfort level, pain, mobility, appetite, and overall wellbeing, helping you understand what your pet is experiencing and what options are available
- Compassionate euthanasia — a gentle, peaceful procedure performed with great care and respect, allowing your pet to pass without pain or distress surrounded by the people who love them
- Aftercare and cremation referrals — guidance and referrals for aftercare options including cremation services, so you can honor your pet’s memory in a way that brings your family comfort and closure
You do not have to navigate this alone. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.

When to Seek End-of-Life Care
If your pet has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, is managing a chronic condition that is becoming harder to control, or has reached an advanced age where their quality of life has noticeably declined, it may be time to schedule a quality of life consultation. You do not need to wait until you are certain the end is near. In fact, having that conversation early gives you more time to make thoughtful decisions and ensure your pet’s final weeks or months are as comfortable as possible.
Signs that a quality of life conversation may be appropriate include persistent pain that is difficult to manage, loss of interest in food or water, inability to move comfortably or perform basic functions, withdrawal from family interaction, labored breathing, or a significant and sustained decline in the things that once brought your pet joy. Every pet and every situation is different, and there is no universal right answer.
Whenever you feel ready to talk, we are here. There is no wrong time to reach out, and asking the question is never something to feel ashamed of. It is one of the most loving things you can do for an animal who cannot speak for themselves.
